About The Position

The Systems Architect will perform analysis at all levels of the system product, including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, deployment, and maintenance. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (i.e., Systems, Electrical, Computer, etc.) is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 10 - 12 years of experience in a systems engineering role.
  • Experience and/or understanding of RF Systems, SIGINT Systems, and Electronic Warfare (EW) systems.
  • Experience and/or understanding of Agile Development Process.
  • Experience in system requirements development, design, integration, and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of DoD standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to conduct system analysis and trade studies.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Requirement Management Systems (i.e. DOORS, ADO Modern Requirements).
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an active US Government Clearance.
  • ITAR Requirement: This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements. A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Apply systems engineering principles and processed throughout the system life cycle phases, Conceptual, Developmental, Production, Deployment, Sustainment, and Retirement of DoD SIGINT and EW systems. This entails:
  • Requirements Analysis
  • Architectural Design and Implementation
  • Integration and Test
  • Validation and Verification
  • Deployment and Maintenance
  • Disposal
  • Risk and Configuration Management
  • Communicate with other program personnel, stakeholders, customers, senior executive team.
  • Responsible for technical integrity, quality, and completeness of worked performed.
  • Ensure system compliance with DoD standards and guidelines.
  • Lead and assist with technical and engineering discussions.
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure successful system delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to project team members based on independent analysis.
  • Develop technical documentation, including system specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
