About The Position

Supports and maintains the organization’s information systems server and database environment. Works with the Information Systems Supervisor and other Information Systems technicians to ensure information systems servers, databases, networks and desktop environments are supported to meet the organization’s business requirements.

Requirements

  • Must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in Computer Science or related-field.
  • Must have a solid understanding and knowledge of the support, configuration of the following rating systems and databases.
  • Microsoft Server Operating Systems Active Directory administration.
  • Microsoft Exchange server SQL databases SANS
  • Previous experience deploying technology is required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Must have strong general knowledge of diverse technical topics.
  • Must possess the ability to teach and train end-users and limit dependence on him/herself.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
  • Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.
  • Sitting – Not a requirement.
  • Standing – Approximately 50% of shift.
  • Walking – Approximately 50% of shift.
  • Lifting – Approximately 50 pounds.
  • Twisting – Infrequent.
  • Bending – Moderate.
  • Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift.
  • May come in contact with hazardous chemicals or treatment modalities.
  • The possibility exists of exposure to communicable disease due to working in a healthcare environment.
  • Involvement in patient care may result in unavoidable work-related illnesses.

Responsibilities

  • Server Support Maintains and supports all information systems servers to meet patient and business requirements. This includes server hardware, operating systems and middleware software within the organization’s information systems. With the department supervisor plans and administers proper server backup and restoration systems and procedures. With the department supervisor, plans, tests, coordinates and implements the organization’s server upgrades, maintenance and replacements. Adheres to the organization’s server plans, policies and procedures as well as best practices at all times. Tests, evaluates and advises the department supervisor on requests (vendor and user) impacting the server environments.
  • Database Support Maintains and supports all information systems databases to meet patient and business requirements. With the department supervisor plans and administers proper database backup and restoration systems and procedures. With the department supervisor plans, tests, coordinates and implements the organization’s server database upgrades, maintenance and replacements. Adheres to the organization’s database plans, policies and procedures as well as best practices at all times. Tests, evaluates and advises the department supervisor on requests (vendor and user) impacting the database environments.
  • Storage Support Monitors and manages information systems storage performance and capacity to maintain a highly available information systems environment. With the department supervisor, plans, tests, coordinates and implements the organization’s storage upgrades, maintenance and replacements. Evaluates emerging storage technology, educates information systems staff and makes recommendations to the department supervisor on the emerging technology. Adheres to the organization’s storage plans, policies and procedures as well as best practices at all times.
  • Network Support Maintains a highly available, reliable network. This environment includes a local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), Software Defined Wide Area Network(SDWAN), Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, and the internet and other emerging technologies. With the department supervisor plans, tests, coordinates and implements the organization’s network upgrades, maintenance and replacements. Monitor and provide regular reporting on network performance. Adheres to the organization’s network plans, policies and procedures as well as best practices at all times. Tests, evaluates and advises the department supervisor on requests (vendor and user) impacting the network environment. Assistance with network and software upgrades, maintenance, and replacements.
  • Helpdesk Support Provides timely second tier helpdesk support for server, database and storage requests. Provides backup helpdesk support as required.
  • Information Systems Team Support: Provides off-hour on-call support as scheduled. Educates other information systems staff on existing desktop/helpdesk technology. Serves as a backup to the other desktop/helpdesk technicians in the Information Systems department. Collects and distributes the department’s mail. Working with the department leadership, maintaining department activity dashboard statistics.
  • Documentation Documents server, database, storage and network environments in order to ensure organizational supportability.
  • Project and Task Management Complete projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor in a timely manner, as requested and with budget constraints.
