About The Position

Emerald Technical Solutions is seeking a mid-level (Journeyman) Systems Administrator to support the U.S. Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center at Aberdeen Proving Ground. This role supports mission-critical research and development efforts delivering advanced capabilities to the Warfighter. The Systems Administrator will provide IT and Information Assurance (IA) support within specialized laboratory environments, ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and operational to support engineering, prototyping, testing, and validation activities. This is a hands-on, high-impact role in a dynamic R&D setting.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3–7 years of systems administration or IT support experience
  • Security+ or other DoD 8570/8140 certification
  • Strong experience with Windows environments (Windows 10/11, Windows Server)
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity frameworks (RMF, STIGs, IAVM compliance)
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT hardware and systems
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting DoD or Army environments, especially lab/test environments
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Experience with IT asset management and procurement support

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, sustain, and upgrade Automated Information Systems (AIS) within lab environments
  • Install, configure, and support end-user hardware (desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, etc.)
  • Perform system imaging, patching, and configuration management
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues
  • Ensure compliance with Army IAVM and DoD cybersecurity policies (RMF/STIGs)
  • Maintain system accreditation in accordance with Designated Accrediting Authority (DAA) requirements
  • Document system changes impacting certification and accreditation (C&A)
  • Implement and maintain secure system configurations
  • Provide IT support for engineering, prototyping, and test environments
  • Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning, and operational readiness
  • Support lab personnel with technical troubleshooting and system usage
  • Recommend system upgrades and modernization strategies
  • Assist in evaluation and procurement of IT and lab equipment
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle tracking
  • Provide responsive technical support to end users
  • Assist with onboarding and system training as needed
