About The Position

Cimarron is seeking a Systems Administrator Team Lead to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract at Vandenberg Space Force Base in the Lompoc, CA area. Key Duties : Provide leadership, guidance, and technical oversight for a team of Linux and Windows system administrators supporting a government program. Serve as the program subject matter expert for system administration, including operating systems, hardware and software integration, virtualization, and containerized environments. Direct and prioritize system administration activities to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing system operations. Coordinate with internal program teams and engineering groups to support system design, implementation, and ongoing operations. Collaborate with system engineers to define requirements for new systems and modifications, and to design, implement, and test solutions. Ensure continuous system availability through effective monitoring, backup and recovery, patching, and upgrade activities. Oversee system software installations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and cybersecurity mitigations in accordance with program policies and service level agreements. Manage technical coordination with hardware and software vendors, including participation in infrastructure reviews and vendor-led activities. Develop and maintain system administration plans, procedures, processes, and baseline configuration documentation. Establish and execute training and mentoring plans to develop and grow system administrators. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to support mission objectives and resolve technical issues.

Requirements

  • Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include, but is not limited to, testing for marijuana use.
  • This position requires access to federal facilities. Candidates must possess a valid, unexpired Real ID-compliant driver's license or state-issued identification card at the time of hire.   • Active Secret Clearance (or higher).
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (ex., Security+ with CE) or higher.
  • 6 or more years of direct/specialized experience in a computer operations environment performing systems administration for both Windows and Linux systems.
  • 3 or more years of leadership and/or management experience.
  • Experience working in virtual environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing technical teams.
  • Experience administering Red Hat Linux environments, including Red Hat Identity Management (IdM).
  • Experience managing Windows Active Directory and Group Policy Objects.
  • Experience performing log analysis and root cause investigations.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualization and virtual infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience supporting DoD classified networks, including red/black separation and Information Assurance (IA) compliance.
