The Salesforce Systems Administrator is responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and monitoring performance of the Salesforce platform under regular supervision. This includes creating reports and dashboards, providing ticket support, managing data and system security while staying up-to-date on the platform's new tools, capabilities, and upgrades. The Salesforce Systems Administrator works on the Salesforce Maintenance and Operations (M&O) team that follows agile as well as traditional software and project management life cycles. This core team consists of Business Analysts, Project Managers, Scrum Masters, Quality Analysts, Developers, and Salesforce Administrators. The primary functions of this position include day-to-day tasks such as creating reports, adjusting list views and page layouts, responding to support tickets, resetting passwords, monitoring debug logs, and running backups, among other support and maintenance activities. This position works with stakeholders to define requirements and to customize the platform to enable users of any technical level to get the most out of Salesforce ensuring ease of use. This includes being the point of contact for any user within the organization with questions or training on how best to utilize Salesforce.

  • Provide support in the maintenance of Salesforce applications and components, including validations, workflows, page layouts, approval process, user accounts, permission sets, profiles, roles, queues, cases, workflows and other routine tasks.
  • Create standardized and ad-hoc reports and dashboards, provide proactive and reactive application and data management support to users.
  • Assist the Salesforce Administrator to monitor system performance and health; participate in regular internal system audits.
  • Help M&O team to prepare for upgrades; implement changes; and apply patches when required.
  • Follow all data governance outlines and use deduplication tools to scrub duplicate and erroneous data from the database.
  • Troubleshoots data issues and works with developers and end users to provide solutions.
  • Adhere to all security guidelines/mechanisms.
  • Work alongside internal and external teams to identify business needs and technical approaches to support project initiatives through Salesforce.
  • Evaluate approaches for integration of Salesforce applications and other enterprise systems and applications to support simplifying operations.
  • Utilize sandbox environments to test and demo new functionality.
  • Assist M&O team to develop standard operating procedures for data access and analysis.
  • Document all errors and structural changes to data objects.
  • Under supervision, perform routine upkeep and enhancements to archival processes and databases as required to remain in sync with production.
  • Document data requirements in a logical Entity Relationship Diagram.
  • Train and support end users on the proper uses of the Salesforce application.
  • Assist in training of new users, and grow the Salesforce skill set across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)
  • Associate's degree plus 1 - 3 years of experience in database administration (or equivalent experience).
  • General understanding of the Salesforce platform, with the ability to configure custom apps and objects, validation rules, formula fields, workflows, custom views.
  • General understanding of Salesforce best practices and functionality.
  • Working knowledge of physical data models, technical architecture, system interfaces.
  • Data analysis skills and knowledge.
  • Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent team skills and a positive working attitude.
  • Good at problem solving and debugging using technical tools and skills.
  • Strong data management and governance skills.
  • Preference given to candidates with experience as a Salesforce administrator or Salesforce Administrator certified.
