As a Systems Administrator (VMware) at GDIT, you will make meaningful contributions that fuel critical outcomes for complex government, defense, and intelligence projects. Your work will support the mission of the US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM). You will operate and sustain the ongoing daily operational use of a VMware infrastructure, including updating, testing, and deploying the vSphere and vCenter product releases. This role involves managing and administering physical and virtual servers, primarily Windows and Linux servers, and ensuring compliance with information security policies and technical standards.

  • Operate and sustain the VMware infrastructure.
  • Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc.
  • Manage and administer physical and virtual servers.
  • Support server virtualization, provisioning, physical server maintenance, security compliance, and daily operations.
  • Maintain server lifecycle - provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware.
  • Monitor the virtual server infrastructure environment's health status, service performance, and utilization.
  • Implement and maintain continuous compliance to information security policies.
  • Apply regular security patches and software updates.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure network components.
  • Integrate new technologies into existing systems.
  • Provide support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of IT systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 12+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with ESX OS and VMware vCenter.
  • 6-8 years of virtualization experience.
  • Extensive infrastructure knowledge and hands-on experience with DoD datacenters.
  • 3+ years of experience deploying and maintaining data center infrastructure within the DOD.
  • 5+ years of hardware experience including compute, network, and storage.
  • 2+ years of experience implementing DOD Security Controls.
  • Ability to provide in-depth experience in troubleshooting IT systems.
  • US citizenship required.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II/8140 Computing Environment Certification.
  • Security+ or equivalent certification.
  • VCA certification to start.
  • VCP6/7 certification.
