About The Position

The Systems Administrator (OMAC) supports North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on the Integrated Tactical Warning/Attack Assessment (ITW/AA) and Space Support Contract II (NISSC II). The candidate will serve as a backup to the lead computer systems administrator and provide guidance, direction, and training. Responsibilities include developing and implementing system documentation and operation procedures, identifying and correcting processing anomalies, and building or debugging complicated hardware and software to correct difficult problems using technically advanced problem-solving skills. The role also involves implementing and maintaining various technical systems, installing operating system software, patches, and upgrades, analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving system hardware, software, and networking issues, and performing system backups, recovery, and server builds. The position requires shift work to support 24×7 operations, and the selected candidate will work onsite at Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 4 years of general work history.
  • Must have 1.5 (or more) years of directly related experience.
  • Must have experience with system administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems (OS) and associated hardware.
  • Must have experience with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies.
  • Must have experience with Windows System Administration.
  • Must have a current DoD IAT Level II, or higher, certification (Security + (CE)).
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with SCI and NC2 eligibility.

  • Have a VMware certification

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a backup to the lead computer systems administrator and provide guidance, direction, and training.
  • Develop and implement system documentation and operation procedures.
  • Identify and correct processing anomalies.
  • Build and/or debug complicated hardware and software to correct difficult problems using technically advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Implement/maintain various technical systems and serve as an interface to the supported community users.
  • Install operating system software, patches, and upgrades.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve system hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Configure, optimize, fine-tune, and monitor operating system software and hardware.
  • Perform system backups, recovery, and server builds.
  • Provide systems administrator support to systems hosting complex operational databases, software configuration control, and system interfaces for computer systems.
  • Manage file servers and network access to include analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting system anomalies.
  • Perform and provide server, workstation, and system expertise.
  • Coordinate and schedule system upgrades and maintenance.
  • Order replacement hardware and software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
