We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to install, configure, maintain, and secure our Linux based environments ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The incumbent will partner closely with the RMS classified network operations, cybersecurity teams, and mission critical program stakeholders to deliver seamless integration and operation of Linux servers supporting classified and unclassified workloads.

Requirements

  • Cyber security certification such as CompTIA Security+, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • 3 to 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration.
  • In-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Alma Linux, and Ubuntu.
  • Strong understanding of Linux security, including SELinux, iptables, FreeIPA authentication service.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Bash, and Python.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, such as Ansible.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+) or CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
  • Experience with Red Hat 7, 8, 9 Linux deployments.
  • Certification in Linux administration, such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator).
  • Networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Configuring and managing encryption, including SSL/TLS and SSH.
  • Cisco CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • Experience with Cisco switching and routing devices CLI.
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Alma Linux, and Ubuntu systems across all environments.
  • Implement and maintain security controls, including SELinux policies, iptables firewalls, FreeIPA authentication, SSL/TLS, and SSH encryption.
  • Automate routine tasks and system provisioning using Ansible and custom Bash/Python scripts.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and capacity; troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and network operations teams to enforce security standards, respond to incidents, and support classified network requirements.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and security implementations; provide clear communication and training to cross functional teams.
