About The Position

Fate Therapeutics is looking for a highly motivated IT Systems Administrator who enjoys owning critical business applications and being a trusted technical partner to end users in a dynamic biotech environment. This role blends hands-on systems administration with meaningful user impact, supporting tier I and II requests, administering core platforms like Okta and SharePoint, improving access and automation, and helping validate enterprise applications that support scientific and business operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth across Windows 10/11 Pro/Enterprise, Microsoft Office 365 apps, and PC hardware. Success in this role also requires clear communication, a proactive mindset for continuous improvement, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while delivering reliable, high-quality support. This is a full-time, exempt position located at our company headquarters location in San Diego, CA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent IT certifications with 4+ years of previous systems admin experience for a mid-size company, preferably in biotech or life science.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of various hardware and software platforms, including Windows 10/11 Pro/Enterprise, Microsoft Office 365 apps, and PC hardware (laptops, desktops, tablets).
  • Experience with on-premises Active Directory administration and Entra integrations.
  • Relevant work experience including but not limited to hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience and applications support in multiple IT systems.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills, including ability to listen, interpret, and explain IT related concepts in non-technical terms.
  • Comfortable working in a lab environment.
  • Independent thinker, proactive in improving IT systems.
  • Strong team orientation with ability to work outside of assigned duties.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Manage critical business applications, ensuring seamless operation and effective troubleshooting.
  • Provide consistent support for tier I and II level IT requests to resolve end user and systems technical issues.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of technical issue resolutions and updates for support tickets.
  • Administer various cloud-based systems, overseeing user activity monitoring, policy creation, and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize advanced content search skills for data discovery and retrieval, supporting Company inquiries across multiple platforms.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting for IT systems and devices.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and administrator for Okta and SharePoint.
  • Oversee user access management, policy configuration, troubleshooting, and orchestration of Okta's automation and workflow features; Manage SharePoint access across the Company.
  • Assist in validating and verifying specific Fate Enterprise applications.
