About The Position

The Systems Administrator III is a senior-level technical role responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of the University’s mission-critical server infrastructure. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of both on-premises (VMware/Hyper-V) and cloud-based (Azure) environments. As a senior member of the UITS team, the Systems Administrator III provides advanced technical support, leads infrastructure projects, and mentors junior staff to maintain a high standard of service delivery. This position may perform other duties as assigned and will require participation in on-call rotation for occasional after-hours support for system maintenance or emergencies. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Applicable equivalencies may be considered on the above qualifications
  • At least eight years of progressive experience in systems administration within an enterprise environment
  • Proven expertise in managing heterogeneous environments (Windows/Linux) and a strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience leading technical projects and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious, and professional relationships with team members and university faculty/staff

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a technical or management field
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • Certified in CompTIA Linux+ or RHCSA
  • Certified in CompTIA Server+
