Akima Systems Engineering (ASE) is looking for a remote Systems Administrator to manage RF communication systems for the U.S Coast Guard's C5I Service Center. Responsibilities + Under direct supervision, installs and maintains operating and systems software, manages systems configuration, monitors compliance with system standards, evaluates software and/or hardware, administers and maintains user accounts and profiles, and performs operating system troubleshooting. + Administers, develops, runs tests, implements, and maintains operating system and related software. + Establishes and implements standards for computer operations for compatibility between hardware and software, according to specifications and parameters. + Troubleshoots and resolves software, operating system, and networking problems. + Schedules, performs, and monitors system backups and performs data recoveries. + Recommends hardware and software upgrades according to growth statistics and disk space forecasts. + Provides technical support for system users. + Performs work under direct supervision. + Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, or Network Engineering and a minimum of _three (3) years_ of system administration experience is required, OR
  • Certificate from an accredited Community or Technical College in System Administration and _five (5) years_ of system administration experience is required.
  • A current System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) or Security+ certification is required.
  • Additional specific information assurance certification requirements may be required at the task order level.
  • Active Secret clearance (or US Citizen able to obtain and maintain one).
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
  • Experience with Coast Guard systems.
