  • Advise technical and non-technical customers on business processes, security, systems and services recommendations, and project plans.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to gauge customer satisfaction and incorporate feedback into future planning.
  • Collaborate effectively with peers and colleagues responsible for other support operations, including software development, computer support, network security, classroom technology, and administrative services.
  • Collaborate with project team on departmental IT transition projects.
  • Build and maintain departmental, team, and cross-team relationships, processes, documentation, and expertise to help advance LAITS systems operations, software development, instructional delivery, and academic research.
  • Evaluate departmental servers, desktop systems, and applications for migration, consolidation, deprecation, or ongoing administration.
  • Prepare and maintain system and project planning documentation including disaster recovery plans, configuration management, licenses, warranties, contracts and inventories.
  • Recommend replacements or upgrades.
  • Provide system administration of supported servers, desktop systems, and related services and applications.
  • Configure and fine-tune infrastructure systems.
  • Provide technical support, recommendations, and guidance in client-side systems administration and management to desktop support teams, customers, and technical groups across the enterprise.
  • Advance knowledge of Nagios including configurations, code customization, graphing, and database storage of Nagios events.
  • Knowledge of SNMP v2c and 3 configuration and how to integrate SNMP with Nagios or other monitoring tools.
  • Ability to write Bash, Ansible and Python scripts for system automation and workflows.
  • Knowledge of Linux commands, system troubleshooting and system deployments, both virtual and physical machines.
  • Knowledge of system patching and application deployment on RedHat 9 and Ubuntu 24.04 Linux systems.
  • Knowledge of Windows administration, Active Directory, and PowerShell.
  • Experience with system security requirements as they relate to university security policies.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Drone, Git, GitHub, Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes, or similar technologies.
  • Some experience with AWS or other cloud services.
  • Ability to write programs in Python, Java, PHP, Django, C++, or other high-level programming languages.
  • The ability to work well in a team setting as well as working individually on assigned projects.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Must be able to document processes completely and accurately.
  • Hands on experience with Certbot automation (ACME), HighCharts and other JavaScript chart rendering tools.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 1+ years’ experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software applications.
  • Experience with full stack development.
  • 1+ years’ experience using a server-side web development framework such as Laravel, Ruby-on-Rails, Django.
  • 1+ years’ experience using a client-side JavaScript framework such as Angular, Vue or React.
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Confluence.
