About The Position

The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is seeking a Systems Administrator (Digital Dentistry) to join the College of Dentistry IT team. This full-time position is responsible for the support and administration of digital dentistry information systems, technologies, and processes at the College of Dentistry. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of IT systems architecture, application integration, and programming concepts. They will work closely with end users, vendors, and the IT department to ensure the efficient and scalable deployment of digital technologies that support clinical imaging (both 2D and 3D), fabrication (including CAD/CAM printing and milling), PACS workflows, tele-dentistry, research, education, and patient care operations at the College. The role involves the organization, management, and security of digital dentistry-related applications and datasets. The Systems Administrator will be tasked with the installation, configuration, and ongoing support of various digital dentistry technologies and related systems, including CAD/CAM systems, PACS applications, digital imaging devices, intraoral scanners, and 3D printers. Collaboration with dental practitioners, clinical staff, and IT staff is essential to implement and optimize digital processes and workflows effectively. Additionally, the position requires liaising with vendors and service providers to procure necessary equipment, upgrades, and support services for digital dentistry systems. The administrator will ensure the integrity, security, and confidentiality of patient data stored in digital systems, adhering to HIPAA and other relevant regulations. They will also assess the effectiveness of digital dentistry solutions and identify areas for improvement, develop and implement protocols for data backup and disaster recovery, and participate in quality assurance initiatives to ensure compliance with established standards and best practices. Providing documentation, training, and technical support to dental staff on the proper use of digital dentistry systems and software applications is also a key responsibility.
