Participate in professional development. Our Systems Administrator Associate Summer Interns will work on a range of projects that ideally align with their interests. Interns will assist with the administration, maintenance, and support of IT systems and infrastructure, including managing servers, ensuring system availability, and implementing solutions to improve performance and security. They may also assist with routine technical support in the management of systems, software, hardware, configurations, and architecture. Additionally, they may help troubleshoot system hardware and software issues, assist end users with hardware and software, assist with basic software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages, and assist with monitoring and tuning systems to achieve optimum performance levels. Lastly, they may aid with ensuring workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions, help ensure data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations, assist with basic hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines, and help to ensure that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an associate's, bachelor's or master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Cyber Engineering, or other relevant STEM field from a United States-based college or university.
  • At least 1 semester of study remaining after August 2026.
  • Exposure to computer hardware and software, including UNIX OS.
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of troubleshooting hardware and software.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the administration, maintenance, and support of IT systems and infrastructure.
