The role involves maintaining the smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, coordinating with network administrators, and interacting with users to evaluate vendor products. Responsibilities include making recommendations for hardware and software purchases, coordinating installations, and providing backup recovery. The position is part of the Propulsion Plant Data Entry/Display Terminal (PP-DE/DT) team within the Control and Information Systems (CIS) section of Department E70. This multidisciplinary team is responsible for lifecycle management of a commercial laptop system used to support maintenance and operation of propulsion plant components and systems. The position will handle laptop imaging, account creation, backup/recovery, vulnerability scanning, and associated documentation. It may also involve manual software testing and troubleshooting, as well as communication with NAVSEA, NNL, and other departments.

  • Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems.

  • Equivalent qualifications may include NNS Apprentice School graduate, Navy Nuclear Power School graduate, Associate's Degree with relevant experience, Military Paygrade E-5 or above, or relevant professional certification.
  • Experience in computer system administration, including imaging, drive cloning, backup/recovery, and account creation.
  • MS Windows experience.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
