The Systems Administration Support position at Langley AFB involves performing critical duties as a Client Systems Technician (CST) and Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for various computer and peripheral systems, including NIPRNET, SIPRNET, and JWICS. The role requires a strong focus on maintaining network connectivity and ensuring the smooth operation of the division's daily activities. This includes overseeing computer software and hardware updates, integrating systems into the local area network, and serving as the primary point of contact for identifying and reporting network issues to the helpdesk for resolution. The technician will monitor trouble tickets submitted to the helpdesk, keeping all affected personnel informed about the status of these tickets. In addition to troubleshooting application issues and providing support for Information Assurance (IA) and Information Technology (IT) problems, the technician will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining workstations and peripheral equipment in accordance with AFNet Ops and local Communications Squadron directives. Ensuring compliance with security configuration guidelines and policies is paramount, as is maintaining an automated inventory control over all accountable Information Technology Equipment Custodian (ITEC) items. The technician will also draft and coordinate division security policies and assist with maintaining databases on the Air Force Portal, ensuring that all systems are secure and accessible to authorized personnel. The role further includes creating and maintaining classified websites on SIPRNET, managing the division's SharePoint sites, and assisting the Communication Security (COMSEC) Responsible Officer in maintaining COMSEC account requirements. The technician will also be involved in preparing command-level briefs and staff packages, developing operational concepts, and ensuring that all assigned personnel meet the necessary training requirements for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II and other related certifications. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and security of the division's information systems and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
