The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) at the Jefferson Barracks VA Medical Center in St. Louis, MO is seeking an Systems Accountant. This position reports to the Chief Accountant. In this role, you will be involved in the day-to-day operations of the VCS Finance Center, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures on a National level.
Responsibilities
- Analyzes and reconciles a variety of accounts and transactions.
- Formulates a variety of routine financial reports and assists in year-end close-out.
- Prepares procedural instructions to be used in the development or modification of automated accounting systems and/or specific program areas.
- Assists management in applying financial data and recommends alternatives to resolve difficult issues.
- Resolves differences between the general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Analyzes financial and statistical data.
- Participates in meetings or engages in direct discussions regarding Finance Center business.
- Conducts training and/or writes training programs.
- Provides feedback concerning policies, procedures, automated systems on how business practices could be improved.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
