About The Position

System Test Engineer Lead Transform technology into opportunity as a System Test Engineer Lead at GDIT, shaping what’s next for an Enterprise Zero Trust Program for a DoW client. Your Impact As a System Test Engineer Lead, you will ensure the effectiveness, resilience, and reliability of Zero Trust architecture solutions while driving collaboration and growth within a high-performing team.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of experience in system testing, with strong expertise in developing Test Plans, Procedures, and Cases.
  • Experience with testing against system requirements of a Cybersecurity nature, such as those aligned with a Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with cybersecurity tools and protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, TLS, and OAuth.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles such as least privilege, continuous authentication, and micro-segmentation.
  • Excellent reporting, documentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • System and network integration testing expertise.
  • Experience in Zero Trust cybersecurity projects or NIST 800-207-aligned implementations.
  • Cloud expertise (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) and experience with security rules (e.g., Palo Alto, Azure Security Groups).
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, HIPAA, NIST).
  • Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of test engineers, fostering collaboration and professional development.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Act as the primary liaison for test-related activities, providing updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Develop, document, and maintain Test Plans, Test Procedures, Test Cases, and Test Inspection Reports.
  • Coordinate and execute phased testing processes, including Qualification Testing and performance evaluations.
  • Validate critical Zero Trust components (e.g., identity management, access control, micro-segmentation).
  • Troubleshoot system-level issues, classify defects, and collaborate with engineers to resolve the issues.
  • Ensure systems align with industry standards (e.g., NIST 800-207, ISO 27001).
  • Maintain detailed, version-controlled documentation for audit and validation purposes.
  • Track performance metrics and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with architects, engineers, cybersecurity, and training teams to ensure shared understanding of requirements and risks.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical discussions, and risk assessments to enhance testability and mitigate potential issues.
  • Create and deliver presentations to inform stakeholders internal and external to the program.
  • Lead testing-focused discussions of a technical nature.
  • Execute functional, integration, and regression testing to ensure system reliability and compliance.
  • Leverage automation frameworks for testing efficiency and accuracy.
  • Validate interoperability between Zero Trust solutions, external systems, and network security tools.
