About The Position

KBR is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our team in El Segundo, CA. You must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance as required. KBR's National Security Solutions team provides high-end engineering and advanced technology solutions to our customers in the intelligence and national security communities. In this position, your work will have a profound impact on the country's most critical role - protecting our national security. KBR (formerly LinQuest) is the prime contractor on the MSEIT contract. By applying to this position, you are in consideration for KBR employment. However, you also have the option to be hired by one of our subcontractor teammates. You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting Air Force Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment. You will interface and collaborate with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians and members of the USAF. You may lead and support working groups responsible for leading technical discussion, resolving and identifying risks and requirements gaps, developing briefings, writing and tracking action items, and authoring meeting minutes. The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the Air Force's Space and Missiles System Center. We support the Air Force's acquisition of state of the art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation's warfighters. Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required for this position.
  • BS in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
  • 4+ years' experience in systems engineering.
  • 1+ years' experience in Systems Safety engineering, to include System Safety Engineering practices, techniques, and procedures and working with System Safety military standards and regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders and customers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to enable working and interfacing with diverse personnel and working in a dynamic team environment.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • MS in technical field, such as engineering, mathematics, physics, or computer science.
  • Certifications in Systems Engineering (INCOSE ESEP, CSEP).
  • Knowledge and experience in Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, EPS, WGS, and FAB-T terminal programs.
  • Experience working with military and DoD civilian clients.
  • Experience and familiarity working on a government space systems program.
  • Experience working on a Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) contract.
  • Active Secret Clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Support the MSEIT System Safety Government Team by evaluating ESOH risks identified by the government, contractors, or other stakeholders, preparing ESOH documents and providing system safety support for Space Flight Worthiness certification.
  • Document, perform, and execute changes to Government System Safety documents.
  • Review and participate in government evaluations of contractor documentation to hazard analyses, mitigation strategies, and safety assessments, as well as advise the government team.
  • Perform safety risk assessments in accordance with MSEIT Program and Space Force guidance documents and prepare safety risk assessments for acceptance or for further mitigation.
  • Prepare documents including but not limited to: Programmatic Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Evaluation (PESHE), Space Debris Assessment Report/End of Life Plan (SDAR/EOLP) for space vehicles, and Environmental Analysis for ground system.
  • Prepare and support the System Safety elements of the space vehicle Space Flight Worthiness certification.
  • Collaborate with prime contractors, other support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. Space Force.
