Systems Safety Engineer will identify , analyze, and control hazards across the weapon system lifecycle to prevent injury or equipment damage, ensuring compliance with DoD and Army standards, specifically MIL-STD-882E. This position will perform risk assessments, develop safety requirements, and evaluate hardware supporting PM SHIELD portfolio. It requires the application of: advanced mathematical techniques; professional engineering principles, methods, and techniques; safety related elements of the physical sciences, ergonomics, and safety principles, standards, practices, and analytical techniques. Duties include: Multi-disciplinary IPTs: Collaborate with design, test, and integration IPTs to embed safety requirements into system architecture and operational concepts. Interface with Army safety boards, review panels, and Weapon Safety Working Groups Requirement Development and Reviews: Develop and implement safety requirements to eliminate or mitigate risks associated with hardware, software, or human error. Advise on system safety requirements based on historical failure data, software failure analysis, and failure mode analysis of such factors as fatigue, stability, and stress Risk Management: Conduct Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), System Safety Hazard Analysis (SSHA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify risk Testing and Validation: Review design, participate in software safety testing, and validate safety measures at test sites. Support Safety Release processes for test events, including live-fire and flight testing Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for safety-related incidents or anomalies. Documentation: Support development of System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Safety Verification Plans, and Safety Assessment Reports (SAR) Required Travel: 15%
