This hybrid role requires the successful candidate to report to the Warren Technical Center three times per week, or as dictated by the business. The team is seeking a creative and energetic Systems Safety Engineer to lead System Safety work and innovate approaches for future developments. This role directly supports overall System Safety Case development, critical for achieving GM’s vision of Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions, and Zero Congestion. The engineer will apply systems-level thinking and collaborate across the engineering organization to deploy System Safety solutions across diverse and evolving technologies. As a fully qualified contributor, the individual will possess thorough knowledge and understanding of all department aspects, broad technical knowledge, training, and creative, independent thinking. The position focuses on executing System Safety development for Keyless & Passive Power Moding and Driver Notifications systems, interacting with global product teams to ensure safety requirements are met according to the GM System Safety Process and industry standards. Responsibilities include leading system safety level engineering across related domains, conducting risk analyses, developing safe solutions, identifying and mitigating potential safety issues, and assisting program teams in developing systems free from unreasonable risk.
