System Safety / Human System Integration (HSI) Department ensures our products Safety and Human Factors disciplines are incorporated into all our engineering and program execution to provide for our customers critical needs. Location: Tucson, AZ What You Will Do This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated System Safety Engineer II to join us onsite in Tucson, AZ. Execute the safety strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety/HSI features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding. Support the program schedule and integrated system safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Engage the Lead System Safety Engineer and Portfolio Engineering Lead for guidance on technical execution, artifact review, attending customer reviews, etc. Support multi-IPT program meetings to ensure that system safety items are considered and to understand current program-wide issues. Ensure program leadership understands system safety requirements, hazards, and planned mitigations. Meet internal and external commitments (deliveries). Own technical solutions and collaborate across IPTs to realize the solution that makes the overall product development and test successful.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with risk assessment concepts, such as those in MIL-STD 882E.
  • Experience writing technical reports and presentations.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with test equipment & test equipment safety, in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
  • Experience preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program.
  • Experience reviewing software code and requirements for safety considerations.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple disciplines.
  • Experience interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.
  • Experience managing Working Groups.
  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
