About The Position

System Safety and Mission Assurance Manager Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company is seeking a System Safety and Mission Assurance Manager to join our leadership team at the Kennedy Space Center in FL . This is a System Safety and Mission Assurance Senior Manager position for the Commercial Crew Transportation System (CCTS / Starliner) program reporting to Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems Mission Assurance & System Safety . The main function is to coordinate System Safety and Mission Assurance activities with CCTS Program Chief Engineer. Duties will include supporting flight test mission assurance readiness reviews, performing and leading independent technical reviews, leading the Safety Review Board, executing independent assessments of System Safety team skills, and ensuring the System Safety deliverables are reviewed and vetted with the NASA Safety team. Additionally, this position will integrate Mission Assurance Program Leader (MAPL) with the System Safety team to better serve the CCTS Program needs. Position Overview: Manages employees and first-level managers performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Systems Safety Engineering and mission assurance. Develops and executes integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provides input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives. Acquires resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements. Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports. Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manages, develops and motivates employees and first-level managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 4 years as lead or manager
  • Experience in developmental programs
  • Knowledge of safety management system and mission assurance
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 5+ years of experience applying systems engineering principles during the development of complex hardware/software solutions on an aerospace platform
  • 3+ years of experience leading multiple parallel development schedules; managing complex integrated schedules or projects.
