System Protection Engineering is part of PG&E’s Electric Engineering organization and is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable operation of PG&E’s transmission and distribution systems. The department provides engineering support for protection and control systems, system disturbance analysis, equipment evaluation, and standards development. The System Protection Engineer Intern is an entry-level engineering position designed to train students in the fundamentals of transmission and distribution system protection. This role works under the general technical direction of experienced System Protection Engineers and requires a high level of guidance, training, and review. The intern supports both project and maintenance & operations (M&O) activities while gaining hands-on exposure to utility protection engineering practices. PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.
