About The Position

Are you a passionate nursing professional with a talent for teaching and inspiring others? We are seeking a System Professional Development Specialist – RN: Pre-anesthesia to join our dynamic team. In this high-impact role, you will serve as a clinical expert and educator, designing and delivering innovative learning experiences that elevate nursing practice and improve patient outcomes across our healthcare system. This role is primarily located at our University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC), and Woodwinds Hosptial in Woodbury. Schedule: This role is a .8 FTE (64 hours every 2 weeks) working primarily 8-hour day shifts, 4 days per week. Variable schedule and very occasional evenings, early mornings or weekends. The System Professional Development Specialist Nursing – RN (PDS) is a high-level clinical expert in nursing who identifies learning educational needs, develops curricula, and delivers quality education to nursing and healthcare personnel with measurable patient outcomes. The PDS improves the professional practice and role competence of nurses and other healthcare personnel by facilitating ongoing learning, change, and role competence and development to improve population health through indirect care. The PDS contributes to the overall success of the organization through leadership in the workforce strategies and patient care, service to patients and families, and working with others in the PDS role.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing
  • 3 years of nursing experience
  • Experience in teaching, coaching, precepting, or training
  • MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Assoc) Required for those supporting: ED, Critical Care/Cardiac Telemetry, Post-Operative (Phase 1 only)

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of critical care RN experience
  • Masters Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field
  • 1 year education experience
  • Recognized ANCC certification in Nursing Specialty aligned to your area of practice
  • ANPD Certification
