About the position

Join the Apple Cloud Engineering team and drive innovation that matters! As part of this team, you will be responsible for building and integrating technologies that enhance people’s lives. We are also tasked with enabling Apple Intelligence and Private Cloud Compute in the cloud. We are seeking a System Power and Performance Engineer with a proven track record of developing technology that has made a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with architecture, platform design, SOC architects, and software teams to deliver outstanding power and performance optimized products.
  • Be responsible for the power and performance of one or more products.
  • Work on different elements of the stack from SOC to the platform to the software stack.
  • Communicate with external stakeholders regarding power and performance targets.
  • Define product power and performance targets in collaboration with architecture teams.
  • Develop automation and infrastructure tools to assess power and performance of the product.
  • Bring up new hardware and debug for power and performance from software down to the state transition of each hardware block.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a Power and Performance Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of hardware components and hardware/software interaction.
  • Strong understanding of Large Language Models (LLM) and inference algorithms.
  • Strong experience in power management and power and performance tradeoffs.
  • Proven understanding of network technologies, protocols and procedures for iOS and macOS.
  • Solid understanding of power delivery.
  • Proven track record to own a complete functional area of an application or product.
  • Able to work independently and should be dedicated.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable with troubleshooting/debugging/reproducing issues.
  • Scripting and programming skills in C/C++, Python, R, Shell.
  • M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Apple Silicon and automating phone/Mac testing.
  • Demonstrated innovative and creative thinking capabilities; be patent savvy.
  • C/C++/ObjC/Swift coding/Python experience.
