About The Position

The position of System Operator has been established to operate and maintain the Outage Management System (OMS) and perform Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system operations. This position will provide technical and administrative support for the operation of the OMS and SCADA systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant job-related experience
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of electric distribution systems and SCADA systems
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Must be detail oriented, self-motivated and able to organize work efficiently to meet project deadlines
  • Must possess excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to generate and submit reports
  • Possess excellent oral and written communications skills in the English language and be able to communicate technical information effectively
  • Learn and comply with Cooperative’s safety rules and procedures
  • Possess a valid Texas driver's license
  • Insurable with the Cooperative's auto insurance carrier
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain a harmonious working relationship with all Cooperative employees, members, suppliers and consultants
  • Must be or become certified in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • Maintain confidential information
  • Required to pass a physical examination when employed
  • Must have sufficient health to perform the essential functions, duties and responsibilities of the job
  • Requires lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of weights
  • Sitting for extended periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control the electrical distribution system using the SCADA system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues or alarms related to the SCADA system or the electrical network
  • Coordinate with other operators, engineers, and technicians to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of the SCADA system and the electrical distribution system
  • Report any incidents, faults, or deviations to the supervisor and document them in the SCADA system
  • Collect, analyze, and report the data and trends of the processes and systems using the SCADA system
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues, errors, or malfunctions of the SCADA system and related equipment
  • Provide system wide load shedding upon request of transmission operator
  • Create substation, distribution, and transmission switching orders upon request in accordance with internal policies, procedures and programs
  • Provide predicted fault locations to the line crew by using SCADA, OMS and GIS
  • Responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the OMS system
  • Assist operations with the resolution of substation outages and distribution outage issues
  • Maintain and update the SCADA system, documentation, and procedures
  • Provide technical support and training to new system operators.
  • Provide on-call support as needed
  • Assist with other duties as needed
