About The Position

Dominion Energy is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of System Metering Technician I or II located at the Castlewood office in Richmond, VA. The position will be filled based on the candidate's experience. System Metering Technician I - This role is the first level position in the System Metering Technician series that skills up to the perform basic maintenance, installation commissioning, corrective action, and cyber security activities on electric high-end revenue metering systems and data communication equipment within Dominion's Generating, Transmission, and Distribution networks. Ability to learn how to maintain accuracy and integrity of revenue metering equipment to the guidelines of the Regional Transmission Operator (PJM) and the internal Metering Engineering and Planning Department. Works in an indoor, outdoor, energized substation and generation facility environments and must be able to effectively learn the safe operation of specialized metering test equipment and multiple electrical diagnostic instruments. Maintains NERC background compliance requirements, continual safety training, and will require nuclear unescorted access training requisites. Routine installation, wiring, verification, calibrating, functional testing and performing preventive maintenance on electric high-end revenue metering equipment at all company owned power stations, Independent Power Producers, Non-Utility Generators (NUG), Interconnect points with neighboring utilities, and generation sources connected to Dominion's Transmission and Distribution networks. System Metering Technician II - This role performs maintenance, installation commissioning, corrective action, and cyber security activities on electric high-end revenue metering systems and data communication equipment within Dominion's Generating, Transmission, and Distribution networks. This position requires the successful completion of the System Metering Technician Development Program or must have equivalent directly related experience. This position requires a fundamental understanding of the electric high-end revenue metering equipment software and hardware, meter data collection applications, wireless cellular modems, substation and generation facilities electrical schematics, and engineering principles for metering systems. This position will have a full understanding of the compliance audit activities and ensures that appropriate compliance maintenance activities, applications, policies, and associated documentation are managed and maintained in support of ETFO's Critical Infrastructure Protection, (CIP), PJM (RTO), and the Metering Engineering Planning department programs. Performs accuracy testing, electrical wiring, verification, and preventive maintenance on electric high end-revenue and operational metering equipment all company owned power stations, Independent Power Producers, Non-Utility Generators (NUG), Interconnect points with neighboring utilities, and generation sources connected to Dominion's Transmission and Distribution networks. Perform periodic compliance reviews, NERC CIP vulnerability assessments, and the testing and implementation of security patches. Comprehensive knowledge of the metering systems and associated data communication equipment interfaces necessary to provide Operating Centers with critical station Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) telemetry over a variety of protocols, using mediums such as Serial, TCP/IP and/or Fiber Optics. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • 0-2 years related electrical and/or electronic experience for System Metering Technician I.
  • Successful completion of the System Metering Technician Training Development Program or similar program and 3+ years experience for System Metering Technician II.
  • Associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of metering and solid-state technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theories.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use and learn computer software programs.
  • Ability to test and verify basic metering devices.
  • Ability to process, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., manual dexterity, color vision, hearing, stooping, standing, and bending.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational/technical certificate or degree in an electrical or power discipline.
  • Disciplines such as Electrical & Electronic Engineering Technology, Electromechanical Technology, Electronics Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Mechatronic Technology.
