About The Position

As a System Integration and Test Engineer, you are involved in a variety of tasks including system test and verification of communications systems, design implementation, system/algorithm simulation, system design, automation, and much more. You will work side by side with hardware design engineers, software developers and system engineers. You will learn how the system functions and performs from the high-level concepts of operations to the lowest layer. You will witness firsthand how the underlying technology is implemented to create a sophisticated product. In this role you will use your technical knowledge and your creativity to design new test methodologies and improve existing procedures to verify system requirements. You will execute various tests, analyze data, and document the results. Working with various systems and subsystems will result in knowledge of the entire system which is a valuable skill set. This can open many career growth opportunities within Viasat including test automation, system engineering, and software development. Additional Information: This position is located onsite. Viasat embraces a flexible work environment and onsite/hybrid work is determined by individual roles and teams. Relocation assistance is available pending eligibility. Requirements

  • Education: Completion of Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience: This role is intended for someone with 0-3 years of full-time, relevant industry experience
  • Additional: Coursework with focus in communications (RF, digital Systems), and networking
  • Experience with Python
  • Courses with practical software design usage
  • Experience with Linux operating systems
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network fundamentals
  • Desire to work on network-based products
  • Good debugging and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities
  • Ability to work effectively in large, or small teams, or individually

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with system testing and verification, especially in developing test plans and test procedures, and tracking tools (e.g. Jira, Jama)
  • Experience with automation frameworks (e.g., RobotFramework, pyTest, Selenium)
