The Western Digital System Integration Test Lab, located in Rochester, MN, is seeking an Engineering Co-Op to join our team from Jan 2026 through August 2026. The ideal candidate will be interested in automation, data analysis, and storage device validation testing. This position is on a team that does power characterization and performance analysis of Western Digital storage drives. The candidate will design, implement, document, and validate test automation framework improvements, test scripts, and bug fixes. Power Characterization Test Engineers are responsible for configuring systems for test, then monitoring and analyzing drive logs, performance data, system logs, bus signals, etc., to determine test status. Problems are then isolated, analyzed, and documented as they occur. The engineer may be responsible for developing and maintaining test scripts and automation. Actively participate in SAFe Agile methodology, including Daily Stand Up, Iteration Planning/Retrospective/Review, and Program Increment Planning/Retrospective. Participate in feature demonstrations to end users and management. Please note that this position is in-person (5 days/week) and is based in Rochester, Minnesota. A relocation benefit will be provided to eligible candidates for this role.

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor's degree majoring in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related major.
  • The ideal candidate will graduate in 2027.

  • Application-level scripting/programming (Perl, Tcl, Python, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux-based systems via command line.
