The System Engineer at Talen Energy is responsible for engineering activities related to the maintenance and performance of systems and components at the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. This role involves monitoring equipment performance, advocating for improvements, and providing technical expertise to resolve issues in a commercial nuclear power plant environment. The engineer will work independently and may guide other employees to ensure high-quality engineering solutions.

  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage and implement engineering analysis, activities and programs.
  • Develop and implement trending and monitoring plans for assigned systems/components to ensure safe reliable equipment performance.
  • Demonstrate ownership of assigned systems/components, and advocate for system performance improvement opportunities.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Investigate, evaluate and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations that solve ongoing problems.
  • Interface with other workgroups (i.e. Operations, Maintenance) and Station Leadership regarding system issues and improvement initiatives.
  • Build relationships to facilitate knowledge transfer and present work products effectively.
  • Assist in developing procedures, improved design recommendations or new equipment purchase recommendations.
  • Review industry operating experience and collaborate with industry peers to apply 'lessons learned' for improving system performance and reliability.
  • BS Degree in Engineering for all levels (Engineer, Support Engineer, Sr. Engineer).
  • Minimum 2 years related engineering experience for Support Engineer position.
  • At least five years of engineering experience at a commercial nuclear reactor facility for Sr. Engineer position.
  • Individual must meet nuclear requirements for Unescorted Plant Access.
  • Previous commercial nuclear experience.
  • Familiarity with design requirements for Nuclear Power plants.
  • Professional Engineer Registration.
