About the position

The System Engineer position at Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) involves supporting the Department of Defense (DOD) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers in establishing a new training center in Fort Washington, MD. The role focuses on overseeing laboratory support activities and ensuring compliance with established policies for hardware and software operations in production and training networks.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation and maintenance of all hardware and software in compliance with established policies required by the customer for their production and training networks.
• Derive and manage requirements to ensure compatibility with defined architectures and compliance with customer standards.
• Perform market studies and assist in developing the system security plan.
• Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or other related discipline plus at least 6 years of systems engineering experience.
• A high school diploma or GED plus 10 years of systems engineering experience would also be considered.
• Must possess an active TS/SCI/Polygraph security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience developing and implementing an Information System Security Plan (ISSP) and securing the enterprise (STE) in accordance with computer security regulations.
• Experience performing market surveys/studies and providing recommendations for new and improved software to enhance IT capabilities.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange 2013 and 2016, Microsoft Server 2012 and 2016, Secure the Network (STN) Standards, User Activity Monitoring (UAM), IBM Big Fix, MS SharePoint, MS Active Directory, MS Windows Desktop Computing, Remote Desktop Management, MS PowerShell Integrated Scripting Engine (ISE), MS Office, Adobe Professional and Creative Cloud, Blackboard, Avaya phone and Cisco phone systems, and Skype for Business.
