About The Position

As a Part-Time System Engineer at Avandra Imaging, you will be an early-career technical generalist supporting the stability, reliability, and performance of our systems. This role bridges frontline technical support, quality assurance, and systems automation, enabling Engineering teams to move quickly and confidently. This is a hands-on, growth-oriented role designed for candidates early in their technical careers who are eager to build strong foundations in systems engineering, automation, and troubleshooting in a real-world production environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in a technical role (support, QA, IT operations, help desk) or relevant academic, bootcamp, or project experience
  • Basic proficiency with Linux/Unix or macOS command-line environments
  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Python, Bash, JavaScript, Go, etc.)
  • Understanding of APIs, client/server concepts, and modern web applications
  • Ability to read and interpret logs, error messages, and system metrics at a foundational level
  • Basic experience with databases (queries, connections, or schema concepts)

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve software, system, and infrastructure issues across Avandra’s products and internal tooling
  • Act as a technical point of contact for escalated or ambiguous issues impacting reliability, performance, or accessibility
  • Support deployment, configuration, and maintenance of software, hardware, and internal systems
  • Contribute to the quality and reliability of Avandra’s software through structured QA processes
  • Write and maintain automated test suites (integration, regression, smoke tests)
  • Participate in release testing and validation efforts
  • Ensure appropriate test coverage for new features and critical infrastructure
  • Write scripts and tools for deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting
  • Support infrastructure provisioning and configuration using automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible)
  • Improve system observability through logging, alerting, and dashboards
  • Identify repetitive tasks and build automated solutions to reduce manual effort
