About the position

The System Engineer - Lunar Surface Camera will support the JETS II contract in Houston, TX. The Systems Engineer (SE) will be supporting the Lunar Camera Surface for the Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP). This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering flight project schedule, procurement documentation, budget and system requirements documents.
  • Develop and support sub-project requirement and verification data packages to support architecture requirements, design, verification/validation, operations, and sustaining engineering.
  • Conduct product life cycle reviews, coordinate integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Work with requirements to align with hardware specifications while understanding the verifications.
  • Perform system engineering functions of projects and provide user input feedback during the design process.
  • Work with ground testing and flight operations testing of hardware with end item documentation.
  • Review verification and validation reports to verify compliance with requirements.
  • Participate and contribute to system requirements reviews, preliminary design reviews and critical design reviews.
  • Participate and contribute to support the development of Lunar Con-Ops.
  • Perform and review system level architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall electrical design and performance.
  • Participate in test, verification, and operation of the as-built hardware.
  • Work with team members and leads to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses.
  • Work and present schedule and progress to customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must have space industry or DoD work experience.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Must have 10+ years of recent and relevant experience in systems engineering.
  • Must be on site in B44. (Situational telework only).
  • Knowledge and understanding of SE&I processes, methodologies, tools and technologies including model based systems engineering.
  • Knowledge of test principles, tools, and processes needed to develop test requirements.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, and material selection.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Flight Hardware and/or Flight Processes/Paperwork.
  • Experience with NASA processes (including EA-023.).
  • Knowledge and experience with DOORS Next Generation.
