About The Position

As a System Electrical Engineer at eero, you will work with the rest of the Hardware Engineering team to design, implement, debug, and characterize embedded systems for wired and wireless networking applications. You may own one or more electrical sub-systems within a hardware product, ranging from low-speed digital logic circuits to memory and high-speed digital interfaces, as well as the integration of those into the rest of the system. You will collaborate with RF and antenna engineers to integrate these sensitive sub-systems without compromising their performance. You will also work with mechanical engineers to ensure that electronic components are placed at suitable locations within a device, have proper thermal management solutions associated with them, and can meet reliability requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout
  • Experience testing hardware/mechanical sub-components, research and data analysis skills, and/or Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout best practices
  • Experience in hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering tools
  • 4+ years of experience in board-level design, component selection, board bring-up, and prototyping
  • Knowledge of best practices for the design of high-speed boards and embedded systems

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of design experience
  • Experience in consumer electronics or technology sector
  • Experience communicating to senior management and customers verbally and in writing
  • Proficiency in the design of high- and low-speed digital interfaces, DC-DC converters, and power distribution networks
  • Understanding of the system integration challenges posed by wireless technologies such as wifi, Bluetooth, and IEEE 802.15.4
  • At least one full product development cycle leading to the successful launch of a consumer product

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select electronic components based on system requirements
  • Develop and review board schematics
  • Review and optimize board layouts for signal and power integrity
  • Perform bring-up of new board designs
  • Develop hardware test plans and automation scripts for engineering and manufacturing tests
  • Participate in the process of taking eero’s hardware from the prototype stage to mass production
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing during the NPI process
