About The Position

ABOUT THE ROLE: The Development and Engineering Manager drives the strategy and success of larger projects to ensure development, deployment and maintenance of cloud-based applications and computing solutions, achieve high-quality performance and user experience. They define procedures and policies for the team tasked with combining software development and IT operations practices to shorten the systems delivery lifecycle and provide a continuous delivery platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the Information Technology (IT) field. In lieu of a degree, at least 7 years of experience in IT
  • 4+ years of experience in IT
  • Experience in performing technical leadership roles including application development projects and/or guiding/mentoring peer development.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Certifications and/or Advanced degree focused on lean management and operational efficiency.
  • Experience in custom, cloud-based software development
  • Experience in dev ops engineering as it pertains to software development
  • Experience SLDC processes / process improvement and navigating operating model challenges
  • Ensures solid API and database designs delivered by the team
  • Successful off-shore development delivery experience
  • Ability to lead root cause analysis
  • Security oversight and/or remediation, ensure proper training of staff
  • Ensures solid Technical Design Documentation is delivered
  • Ensures successful testing and code reviews are performed, identifying and closing gaps
  • Familiarly with Sales and Marketing business processes and CRM software a plus

  • Leadership & Supervision Tactical decision-maker, Handles unforeseen issues.
  • Manages activities of two or more disciplines or a department.
  • Oversees experienced level professionals and/or may be responsible for subordinate managers.
  • Frequently advises team(s) on moderately complex matters.
  • Responsible for supporting the talent strategy through hiring, onboarding, learning & development, performance, succession planning, engagement, recognition, and inclusion, diversity, and equity practices.
  • Responsible for fostering a work environment that encourages employees to act with integrity and respect.
  • Responsible for setting employee objectives and expectations, monitoring and evaluating performance, providing meaningful feedback, and mentorship.
  • Responsible for supporting employee career development.
  • Erroneous decisions will result in critical delay(s) in schedules and/or unit operations and may jeopardize overall business activities.
  • Knowledge & Application Establishes operational objectives, policies, procedures and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates.
  • Develops, modifies and executes company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect.
  • Accountable for department budget which may be broad and have far reaching impact on the business segment.
  • Works on issues where analysis of situations or data requires conceptual thinking and an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives.
  • Problems are not clearly defined and lack strategic direction.
  • Implements policies and selects methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Drives the strategy and success of larger projects which contribute to multiple areas of the organization.
  • Collaboration & Interaction Interacts regularly with lower and/or senior management on matters concerning several functional areas, department, and/or customers.
  • Applies knowledge to convince other stakeholders on desired departmental outcomes.
