About The Position

AFT Platform & Engineering Services is looking for a Systems Development Engineer to join our team! In this role you will contribute to improving development and operational excellence of multiple warehouse technology services utilized by our customers. Each day, millions of customer shipment are processed worldwide through AFT services. Our team works on tools that enforces Engineering best practices that ensures availability and scalability of these production services that process millions of shipments. We are looking for systems development engineers who are excited to work on complex system software and are passionate about solving availability and scalability challenges in innovative ways. As a System Development Engineer, you’ll be responsible for design our system architecture. You'll own and implement specific components of the system. You'll collaborate closely with other engineers in the organization, identify areas of improvement and opportunities for automation and drive them to closure. As an experienced engineer, you will provide technical experience to the team, drive best practices, mentor other engineers and drive continuous improvements in engineering and operational excellence. A typical day on our team involves collaborating with other engineers to deploying software through our large automated systems, and operationally supporting your newly deployed software. You will seek out new approaches to automate fixes for operational issues, use AWS services to solve design problems, and engage other internal teams to integrate your applications with theirs. Requirements

  • The ideal candidate must be detail , have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure.
  • You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages.
  • You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.
  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 2+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
  • Knowledge of database systems and SQL
  • Experience with Linux/Unix
  • Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.)
  • Travel might be required
