Primary Function of Position Systems Analysts (Robotic Control Engineers) are responsible for generating, debugging, and tuning the key motion algorithms associated with Intuitive Surgical products. As a Systems Analyst Intern on the Ion Endoluminal project, Intuitive’s robotic platform for minimally invasive biopsy in the peripheral lung, the hired candidate will collaborate on investigations that inform next generation motion control algorithms and their interaction with hardware designs. The successful candidate will have both the technical depth to identify and resolve complex control algorithm issues and the breadth to work with cross-functional teams team to remove blockers.

Requirements

  • University Hiring Program Eligibility Requirements:
  • University Enrollment: Must be currently enrolled in and returning to an accredited degree-seeking academic program in the Fall.
  • Internship Work Period: Must be available to work full-time (approximately 40 hours per week) during a 10-12 week period starting May or June. Specific start dates are shared during the recruiting process.
  • Required Education and Training
  • Current enrollment in a Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Robotics degree-seeking program at the Doctorate level.
  • Master’s level students would also be considered based on specific relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Apply control theory to the design and verification of mechatronic and robotic systems.
  • Bring-up distributed electro-mechanical systems to be used for experimentation.
  • Validate and iterate on simulated dynamic models through targeted experimentation.
  • Design experimentation that untangles complex dependencies and drives understanding of key relationships
