The System Administrator is a self-starter who works independently and leverages his or her expertise to advise functional leaders, decision makers, and management to ensure the efficient and secure operation of the company’s computer systems and networks. This includes overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software, as well as troubleshooting technical issues, and creating and implementing security measures. The System Administrator plays a critical role in providing services that facilitate and support various operations across multiple departments. They also manage user accounts, permissions, and system backups, and monitor system performance to ensure optimal functionality. Working with users with a variety of technical capabilities will require personable skills for common scenarios like onboarding, troubleshooting, and training. Growth with small projects and strengthening our cyber security stance will be a high priority for this role as the company grows.

  • System Installation and Configuration: Installing and configuring hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and network devices.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving technical issues with systems and networks.
  • User Account Management: Creating, modifying, and managing user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
  • Security: Implementing and maintaining security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint security software.
  • Monitoring and Performance: Monitoring/optimizing system performance, identifying potential bottlenecks, and proactive maintenance in conjunction with our MSP and various tools.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implementing and managing backup and recovery processes to protect data and ensure business continuity.
  • Documentation: Maintaining documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Technical Support: Providing technical support to users and guests.
  • Software Updates and Patches: Applying software updates, patches, and security fixes to ensure systems are up to date.
  • Networking: Managing and configuring network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and printers.
  • Cloud Services: Managing cloud-based services and resources.
  • Automation: Creating automating tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with other IT staff, including system analysts, engineers, MSP’s, and various vendors.
  • Project Management: Effectively uses judgment, experience, and expertise to provide planning, organizing, directing, supervising and accomplishing the goals of a project(s) requirements and activities to meet objectives. Includes balancing the task requirements within the constraints of schedules and budgets.
  • Including other duties and responsibilities assigned.
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, business administration, or a related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Must have 4+ years of hands-on experience in supporting users, systems management, or application implementation/training roles.
  • Experience in Emergency Response, Restoration, Construction, or Environmental fields is a plus.
  • M365 and endpoint management experience is a major plus!
