The System Administrator V will support DOI/IA applications and information technology systems, including architecture, installation, configuration, backup and recovery, documentation, operational and development programming, reporting, system maintenance, workstation connectivity, user support, security implementation, certification and accreditation, and user account administration.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree, Certificate from technical training institute, or combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of related technical experience in supporting an Information Technology environment at the server/data center level
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust
  • Ability to lead projects
  • Ability to support Microsoft and Linux Operating systems. Knowledge of other Microsoft Products used to manage an enterprise operation.
  • Knowledge of VMWare. Experience in industry-standard data center physical security tools and applications.
  • Knowledge of DCIM and tools used. Basic knowledge of Visual Basic, .NET, C#, PowerShell, and other programming/scripting languages.
  • Ability to develop project management documentation.
  • Has excellent interdepartmental communication skills (written, verbal, presentations).
  • Ability to work without guidance and the ability to resolve highly complex problems.
  • Ability to lead projects
  • Ability to support on call 24/7/365
  • Ability to occasionally travel to sites where the IT systems are located

Responsibilities

  • Install, Support may include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of Data Operations Center (DOC), systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware and software upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.
  • Serves as SME for a Shared Services Enterprise Datacenter information technology projects.
  • Shall administer Windows Network in an enterprise environment along with applicable Linux servers/devices
  • Ensure that all system administration activities follow established OIT guidelines and procedures.
  • Track vulnerabilities and perform patching on Linux systems in compliance with requirements set forth by DOI/IA.
  • Establish file storage shares/folders with the proper ACL permissions; new and migrated.
  • Responsible for the security and administrative controls of service(s) and/or system(s).
  • Responsible for Information technology on multiple computers or network devices represented within an on-site system and/or a remote site within the DOI/IA
  • Assist with agency-specific risk assessments to identify, categorize, prioritize, and manage HVAs.
  • Perform systems management, system monitoring, and upgrade of all applicable DOI/IA systems.
  • Document current procedures that relate to tasks.
  • Work with other staff in developing and documenting new procedures for tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
