About The Position

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a System Administrator/Network Specialist or Senior System Administrator/Network Specialist to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site. The System Administrator/Network Specialist is responsible for developing, designing, and maintaining the computer network infrastructure (including hardware, software, and installation) that supports the distributed control system (DCS) and simulator, and supports equipment connections to the DCS. About Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy’s Savannah River Site’s Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor. Requirements

  • High school diploma, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree with practical and relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Previous experience with Liquid Waste facilities, systems, and requirements
  • Familiarity or previous experience maintaining secured ICS systems under DOE/NNSA requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
  • Designs and plans standard ICS network systems.
  • Conducts testing of network systems.
  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
  • Performs operational analysis and effectiveness analysis.
  • Maintains software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed software and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.
  • Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
  • May build and design training models.
  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
  • May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
