About The Position

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the availability, reliability, and operational integrity of OneRail’s core infrastructure, including on-premises data center assets, hybrid cloud environments, and foundational IT services. This role focuses on infrastructure execution and operations, ensuring systems are properly provisioned, maintained, patched, monitored, and supported in accordance with approved standards and security controls. This position works closely with Information Security, Cloud Enablement, and other technology focused business units to execute infrastructure changes, support business operations, and maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • 2–4+ years of experience in systems administration or infrastructure operations.
  • Strong experience with Windows Server and Linux administration.
  • Hands-on experience managing on-premises data center environments.
  • Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP).
  • Experience with backup, monitoring, and asset management systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud IaaS platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting colocation or enterprise data centers.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-based service management practices.
  • Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, or GDPR.
  • Experience with automation or scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
  • Relevant certifications (Microsoft, VMware, CompTIA Server+, Linux+, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, and maintain Windows and Linux servers (on-prem and virtualized).
  • Administer virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Manage Active Directory / Microsoft Entra ID (directory services, group policies, non-security configuration).
  • Support hybrid infrastructure spanning on-prem data centers and cloud IaaS environments.
  • Perform routine OS patching, updates, and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain backup and recovery systems, including testing restores.
  • Monitor system health, capacity, and performance using approved monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents and participate in root-cause analysis.
  • Manage and maintain data center hardware assets, including:
  • Physical servers
  • Network equipment
  • Storage systems
  • Rack and cabling infrastructure
  • Track assets through their full lifecycle (procurement, deployment, maintenance, decommissioning).
  • Perform rack-and-stack, cabling, labeling, and hardware replacement activities.
  • Coordinate with vendors, colocation providers, and facilities teams for data center access and maintenance.
  • Support power, cooling, and capacity planning initiatives.
  • Assist with hardware refreshes, migrations, and decommissions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of data center layouts, asset inventories, and configurations.
  • Respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and requests.
  • Execute approved changes in accordance with change management processes.
  • Provide escalation support to Service Desk and Information Systems teams.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and SOPs.
  • Participate in on-call rotations or after-hours maintenance windows as required.
  • Support disaster recovery and business continuity exercises from an infrastructure standpoint.
  • Implement approved security configurations and baselines as defined by the Information Security team.
  • Support vulnerability remediation activities (patching, configuration changes).
  • Assist with audits by providing evidence and system-level artifacts.
  • Adhere to least-privilege access and separation-of-duties requirements.
  • Report security events, misconfigurations, or policy deviations to the appropriate teams.
