Requirements

  • An associate's degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in systems design, systems software and support.
  • Advanced level technical skills in at least three of the following areas: Linux administration, Networking, VMWare, Server hardware, Storage and backup appliances, Automation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and maintains the Library server and core network infrastructure to include storage, virtual environment, physical environment, backups, and core routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Manages large operations level projects from beginning to end.
  • Contributes to strategic initiatives and provides leadership on behalf of Systems team with senior staff and management.
  • Serves as the primary administrator for the Library's Linux server environments.
  • Recommends, installs, and configures new and replacement Linux servers as needed.
  • Serves as the backup administrator for the Library's Windows server environments and infrastructure services such as Active Directory, DNS and DHCP, NTP, and others.
  • Assists the Technology Infrastructure Manager with administering the core networking infrastructure of the Library, including routing, switching, and firewalls.
  • Responds to and resolves complex support desk escalations.
  • Monitors systems and demonstrates advanced knowledge of systems and Library infrastructure with application of advanced level troubleshooting skills.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of Library systems, including processes and procedures.
  • Develops and/or recommends improvements for business continuity and process improvement.
  • Installs system software, hardware and associated updates as necessary.
  • Develops, recommends and successfully implements new technologies.
  • Deploys and decommissions physical and virtual servers.
  • Maintains currency with IT skills and industry standards.
  • Mentors junior level staff members.
  • Develops and conducts training sessions for both technical and non-technical audiences on supported systems and applications.
