About The Position

DNI is seeking to add a System Administrator to our team. The System Administrator I will provide support to the Department of Energy (DOE) Savannah River Operations Office (DOE-SR), assisting federal government staff and site contractors at the Savannah River Site (SRS) located in Aiken, SC.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail, with the proven ability to identify and correct errors, spot and improve weaknesses, and produce near-perfect results.
  • Ability to identify problems, brainstorm solutions, and implement the best options.
  • Clear and succinct communication skills with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Understanding of basic networking and security principles.
  • Skilled in PowerShell scripting to automate routine tasks.
  • Ability to provide support for network and communication protocols relating to email and LAN connectivity, including TCP/IP, SMTP, and LDAP.
  • Ability to maintain email encryption technologies on multiple devices and environments (e.g., laptops, desktops, tablets, smartphones).
  • Experience in the design and integration of multiple network operating systems, protocols, and topologies.
  • Must possess (or be able to obtain) a “Q” level security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • In lieu of education: Minimum of three years of experience working in a primarily Windows environment, preferably with experience administrating Active Directory and Windows Server systems.
  • Minimum of one year of experience utilizing VMware vSphere/ESXi or a similar virtualization hypervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Support the System Administrator II with installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems.
  • Mentor the Systems Administrator Apprentice to become a successful System Administrator.
  • Implement security concepts associated with this position and implemented technology.
  • Operate, monitor, secure, and sustain the Storage Area Network (SAN), VMware cluster servers, and backup systems; establish, implement, and test backup and failover SOPs; implement data recovery procedures within the Network Attached Storage.
  • Provide Operation & Maintenance for IT service management, System Center Configuration Manager, VMware ESX, Microsoft System Center Operations Manager, Citrix servers, and create organization units (OUs) and sub-OUs.
  • Utilize a service management tool to ensure accurate trouble ticket tracking and prioritize tasks to provide optimal administration across the various tools identified.
  • Assist in the development of standardized procedures for Local Area Network (LAN) operation and associated documentation in accordance with prescribed governance standards.
  • Coordinate and attend Configuration Control and Review Board (CCRB) meetings and provide relevant updates to System Administrator II.
  • In the event of an incident or major issue, create a lessons learned entry to ensure future process improvement.
  • Ensure proper documentation of any assistance with investigations (excluding the nature and subjects of the investigations).
  • Provide Tier 2/3 statistics for trouble tickets escalated from the Service Center.
  • Verify and validate products and services provided, ensuring they meet requirements and fulfill their intended purpose.
  • Perform business intelligence techniques in data mining, process mining, business performance, benchmarking, and predictive analytics.
  • Script (Windows batch files & PowerShell) to automate routine tasks.
  • Assist the Systems Engineer in network design.
  • Setup and administer SMTP e-mail.
  • Create and manage Public Folders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve client-side e-mail issues.
  • Administer NT Gateway Services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.
