Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) from an accredited college or university.
  • Basic understanding and hands-on experience with Linux operating system administration.
  • Familiarity with software-controlled hardware systems.
  • Experience using test equipment and working with automation systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Basic understanding of problem definition and issue resolution processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively plan and execute work tasks.
  • Ability to clearly communicate status updates, progress, problems, and proposed solutions.
  • Must be able to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours, weekends, and second or third shifts as needed.
  • Must be available for periodic travel to other ULA sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in System Administration, Network Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with programming and scripting languages, such as Python, Perl, C++, KSH, Bash, or others.
  • Basic understanding of Electrical Communication Systems.
  • Basic understanding of Windows Operating System Administration.
  • Basic understanding of Cisco Network Administration.
  • Experience with DevOps automation tools, such as Ansible, Cobbler, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard Data Transport/Storage protocols, including IRIG 106 Chapter 10 and Appendix C.
  • Basic understanding of low DC voltage command and instrumentation circuits.
  • General understanding of launch operations processes and protocols.
  • Previous internship experience with a technical or engineering company.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical processing of Atlas V and Vulcan launch vehicles and associated ground control/monitoring systems.
  • System administration and operation of electrical ground support computer systems and hardware interfaces.
  • Task-leadership of a multi-disciplined team of technicians in the processing of electrical ground computer systems.
  • Technical oversight of systems in the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Contributing to the completion of technical tasks as a junior team member.
  • Development and maintenance of administration procedures, test procedures, maintenance procedures, security controls, and other types of launch processing documents.
  • Analyzing and developing solutions to problems using basic technical processes.
  • Coordinating and integrating activities with other engineering disciplines.
  • Investigating and developing resolutions for software, hardware, and process anomalies.
  • Interfacing with ground system design engineers and interpreting engineering specifications.
  • Determining approaches and processes to solve problems with manager and/or lead.
  • Supporting low voltage DC command/control and instrumentation testing/troubleshooting on hardware systems.
  • Administering, configuring, modifying, troubleshooting, testing and operating launch vehicle ground support computer equipment.
  • Generating and maintaining procedures to process the electrical ground computer systems/installations/testing.
  • Developing specific knowledge of ground control/monitoring systems to troubleshoot and resolve issues/anomalies.
  • Working with the responsible engineer to develop and review test requirements.
  • Performing console operations during testing and launch.
