About The Position

The System Admin Intern position at Amentum supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. This internship, lasting for 6 months, involves administering computer systems, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining system operations to ensure efficiency and reliability.

Requirements

• Must have a HS Diploma (or GED), or higher, and 1 year of general experience.
• Must have a current Security+ CE certification or equivalent IAT Level II certification (or higher).
• Must have, or obtain, a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with administration in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 and/or 8 environments.
• Familiarity with administration and maintenance of Windows 10.
• Familiarity with building and configuring Active Directory and user services.
• Familiarity with Powershell Scripting.
• Familiarity with Virtualization of Windows services.
• Familiarity with Remedy.
• Familiarity with Configuration Management processes.
• Familiarity with WSUS, SCCM, or Windows Patching.

Responsibilities

• Administer the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations.
• Demonstrate understanding of software behavior to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot systems.
• Research new technologies and leverage optimization techniques for efficient system operation.
• Understand dependencies of other technical services in the enterprise environment.
• Build, configure, and re-image machines for exercise events.
• Maintain patches and updates for all deployed machines.
• Troubleshoot, resolve, and document end user device issues or escalate as needed.
• Support day-to-day operations and episodic events.
