About The Position

Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network, aiming to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers and communities globally, especially in locations without reliable connectivity. This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to U.S. government-imposed requirements. The role is for a Linux Client Fleet Manager within the Leo Devices & Systems team, focusing on the strategy and operations to keep Linux client systems secure, compliant, and optimized for productivity across engineering, manufacturing, and science teams. This role directly supports Leo's mission to connect unserved and underserved communities through innovative satellite technology. Daily responsibilities include developing automation for Linux provisioning, configuration, and patching, partnering with security, networking, and manufacturing teams to enforce NIST and ITAR compliance in production environments. The work involves managing endpoint security tools, supporting printers on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting fleet issues, monitoring compliance dashboards, documenting processes, driving root cause analysis, and implementing long-term improvements. This hands-on role demands strong technical skills, proactive problem-solving, and a focus on secure and efficient operations.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 3+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
  • Proficiency in Linux management (RHEL, Ubuntu, etc) in Enterprise or Manufacturing Organizations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java

  • Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain controls to ensure systems meet rigorous internal and external security requirements (e.g., NIST, FedRAMP, ITAR compliance). Drive initiatives to keep the fleet within defined patches and configuration baselines.
  • Tooling & Automation: Develop and improve automation for imaging, software distribution, monitoring, and policy enforcement. Utilize tools like MaaS, Ansible, Puppet, or Tanium for scalable fleet operations.
  • Printer Management for Manufacturing: Launch and maintain printers that support SAP-driven manufacturing processes, ensuring seamless integration with Linux endpoints on the manufacturing floor.
  • Operational Excellence: Define metrics and dashboards to monitor fleet health, compliance, and performance. Drive initiatives to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) and increase fleet stability.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely with Security, Networking, Manufacturing, and Application teams to support specialized workloads and deploy solutions tailored to Kuiper’s unique environments.
  • Process Leadership: Build and document processes for hardware lifecycle management, software approvals, printer onboarding, and user support related to Linux systems.
