The Synthetic Environment Artist at CAE will play a crucial role in the design, development, and implementation of modeled assets within a collaborative environment. This position requires a strong foundation in 3D modeling, texturing, and animation, as the artist will be responsible for creating highly optimized assets for use in game engines. The artist will work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Instructional System Designers (ISDs), and software engineers, necessitating strong interpersonal skills and effective communication. The role involves maintaining a 3D model repository, documenting work in progress, and providing feedback on task progression. Candidates must demonstrate their skills through a portfolio showcasing their modeling, texturing, and animation capabilities. In this fast-paced work environment, the artist will be expected to perform productively both independently and as part of a team. They will utilize various sources, including photographs, 3D scans, CAD models, and non-optimized polygonal models, to create textures using PBR workflows that match photographic references. The artist will also need to adjust workflows to align with organizational processes and tools, and document these processes in an internal knowledge management system. The position requires a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Art or a minimum of three years of experience in a related field, along with advanced proficiency in Digital Content Creation tools such as MODO, Maya, 3DSMAX, and Blender, as well as texturing tools like Photoshop, MARI, and Substance Painter/Designer. Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role. The work environment is primarily in a professional office setting, with limited remote work opportunities due to the need for group interactions and specific hardware.
