About The Position

Develops synthetic glycan research projects and is responsible for scientific design, conduct and interpretation, presenting results and publishing manuscripts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical biology or other scientific discipline in a related field plus three years of experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field, or equivalency, plus two years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
  • A valid Utah Driver's License may be required in certain departments.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description

Responsibilities

  • Develops scientific research projects and acts as a co-principal investigator or key personnel.
  • Researches and stays current with project related scientific literature.
  • Sets up new methods or assays to accomplish scientific objectives.
  • Identifies and implements creative solutions to overcome problems.
  • Organizes, interprets data and derives study conclusions.
  • Manages and trains research staff to achieve research goals.
  • Collaborates with internal and external investigators on multiple research projects ensuring scientific significance and feasibility.
  • Summarizes results of lab studies in the form of scientific abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Serves as a resource to provide scientific information needed for various initiatives aimed at understanding human health and diseases.
  • Contributes to teaching activities by preparing and presenting educational seminars.
  • Assists with grant preparation by researching background, significance and planning statistics.
  • Attends national conferences and presents results of scientific studies.
