About The Position

Legends Global, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Synchronized Skating Coach at McFetridge Sports Center. The coach is responsible for coaching a higher-level synchronized skating team. Hours of work are typically 5-7 hours per week but could vary depending on special events or performance needs.

Requirements

  • Position requires ability to: Integrate into the overall team concept and maintain effective working relationships with other coaches, instructors, parents and the Figure Skating Coordinator.
  • Be self-motivated with excellent customer service skills, punctual, reliable, organized and responsible.
  • Attend parent meetings and organize large groups.
  • Remain flexible, adjusting to situations as they occur and model appropriate behavior at all times.
  • Teach ice skating and related skills to all ages and levels.
  • Applicants should have some coaching experience with a Pre-Juvenile team or higher, along with USFS coach compliance and knowledge of the IJS judging systems.
  • Applicants must have competed on an IJS synchronized skating team at the Open Juvenile division or higher for a minimum of 2 years.
  • Applicants would have to be available weekday evenings, weekday mornings depending on the team practice schedule, and some weekends for additional practices and the competition schedule.
  • This position requires the ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Able to work specifically on Sundays.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching Skating Skills, Learn to Skate and/or Ice Dance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coach the synchronized skating team and help manage all team related activities for the season.
  • Plan and lead all on and off ice practices, including additional practices that are scheduled.
  • Assist with planning the season and handling administrative duties related to all aspects of the team. Duties include, but are not limited to organizing team events, competition entries, coordinating volunteers, competition weekend itineraries, team uniform orders.
  • Communicate pertinent information to the skaters, parents and other coaches on a regular basis.
  • Manage disciplinary issues with the help of the Figure Skating Coordinator, if needed.
  • Assist with other synchro or skating program related duties or activities as assigned by the Figure Skating Coordinator, including the spring ice show and annual rink competition.
